Green Light...

Just got the pilot script back from a Gay friend of mine. This pilot is for the contemporary paranormal story line. He also finished my sword and sorcery fantasy pilot a few weeks ago. That time he said, "I need to know what happens!" This time he gave me back my script and said, "You need to stop doing this to me! I want to know what happens NEXT!"

I gave him the scripts so he could tell me flat out if they would capture his attention, being they are gay-themed with the paranormal being an ensemble cast, and his reaction to both was exactly what I hoped for. He gave me the Green Light.

This is exactly what I needed heading into a 3-day weekend (for me, at least). I need to script write and polish and send these two pilots into my script reviewer for her to do her thing.

If I can get them polished and looking professional... the next step is submitting to producers/studios.

Send energy. This is where the rubber meets the road, babies!

Less Facebook, More Blogging.

Social media is not what it used to be. The thrill is gone. I'm ready to move on. Too many issues are being argued and no one is changing anyone's mind about anything, not really. It's too intense for me and stressful and frankly, having dealt with cancer once in my life, once is enough. Stress is not something I cater to simply because it's there. I can move away from it and so I've chosen to.

I have too many things in my life to focus on right now... preparing for retirement, scripts to write, stories to write, Tarot to study... these are my aspirations for this time in my life.

I'll be slowly weaning off of Facebook (for the moment I'm only going to check it out on Saturday's for one hour and that's it. The rest of the week will be mine to do with as I please.)

Right now I'm focusing on my mini-series Broship/Bromance story. Feeling it and moving on the first two hour episode (looking at 4-6 parts total when done.)

My boys' names in that story are Sebastian and Ian. Remember those names, I have a feeling I'll be talking about them a LOT! ;)

That being said...
Moving onward and upward and, you know? After making this decision I'm actually feeling a hell of a lot better! This is GOOD! :D

Take care, all!
Watch this space for updates and news. :D

I know covers are not supposed to go with scripts, but this is more a visual source of inspiration for me to keep pushing forward with the story. Thought you might want to check it out. :)

Pilot Updates

Hello!
Been some time away, getting bearings, courses set, goals.

So, the first 10 episodes for my Gay Fantasy Romance series have been put on hold. As it was with my novels for this story, setting up the world building and characters/plot turned out to be TOO MUCH story. So, because of that, I've decided to travel the route of many other story tellers and begin in the middle for my Warrior Guard Chronicles. The two-hour pilot for the original ten episodes has now been knocked down to a one-hour pilot of the new path this story is taking... smack dab from the middle.

I can guarantee it will not affect the goals for the main characters because these stories were going to be written for second season anyway. They've just been promoted to first season.

The questions of how did they get here, what happened to put them in these situations, and why, will be answered as the series moves along. As long as I can find a producer/studio willing to take them on.

For now, I'm content in knowing that I DID give the one-hour pilot to a Gay friend of mine and he came back demanding more, so... this was a heavy-duty good sign. Turns out he's pretty picky. LOL! But in a good way. Love ya', Michael! :)

As for the paranormal story pilot (again a Gay Romance, but along the lines of the paranormal/alternate universe category, which means ensemble cast with various backstories for other characters to investigate), it has gone through its first review and is currently being read by Michael for his input. Once I finish whatever rewrites need to be done, it will go in for its second review and then we'll go from there.

The journeys are also moving in my private life as I'm scheduled to retire from my day job in September of this year in order to devote my full time to scripts, books, and Tarot. (See my Tarot blog on that subject; URL coming soon.)

Books? Did you read that right? Indeed. It appears learning script writing has helped me with my prose writing i.e.; where to cut the fat, how to re-word sentences, even knocking five words down to one. My style of writing is officially undergoing a massive overhaul, so be prepared for my Solitary and Mercenary series to get a complete makeover, including plot and cover. The illustrations used before may not have been conducive to the goal of attracting readers. I'll keep them for the blog, and will work out cover redo's as I move along. However, with my retirement I'll be taking a massive pay cut so those goals will be budgeted over months instead of weeks. I'm also approaching this with more freedom, however. Now, instead of 'needing' to get this done to get out of my job, I'll already be retired, so I can focus on 'desiring' it to be done for fun reasons... not 'get me the hell outta here' reasons.

Lowers the stress level immensely!
Ah... well, there we are. Updates will occur more often, now that I know where I'm going and why.
Take care all!
Hugs,
Janalyn

Moving Forward

So, I deactivated my Facebook account this morning. I may end up deleting it altogether but given my past patterns -- doubtful. I'm go...
