The Universe would not say 'no'. It kept pushing and pushing and pushing. Message after message hit me for almost a year: Get out of your day job!
I was comfortable at my job financially, but the stress level was getting worse and worse exponentially each year. The lack of upgrades in my department meant we were being left behind on serving the public and I was taking the fallout. 32 years of service and I'd discovered my passion for writing far outweighed what I was doing in a steady "9-5" (quote-unquote) job.
After planning and questioning and researching, I chose to retire early. It meant a pay cut, but I could still pay my bills and put food on the table.
So... it's happening. I begin my new life next week and in that new life I'll finally be able to focus on my scripts and novels. (Mostly scripts.)
Speaking of which: The scripts are just about ready to go in for their second review process. I have a few more canon details to cement into the pilots, then it's off for a second review. As I'm new to the process of 'Spec Script' writing, I need to learn more on HOW to write them, but that's what this is all about. Taking the time to do that and become proficient with it.
I may even take that next step and learn how to write 'shooting' scripts. It's fascinating how scripts are made and I find myself desiring to learn how to do it all. 😃
I'm also going to be working on my Bromance novels, starting with possible Patreon perks for subscribers… if I can find anything that may spark people's interests. Not much for writers to offer, I'm afraid, hence my hesitation to start a Patreon account. I may do videos of dramatic readings from my novels to spark interest, but on a monthly basis? That may not be enough. I can't draw worth squat, so offering illustrations may not be possible, either. Still working on ideas. If you come up with suggestions, please respond with them and I'll weigh them up to see if they're possible. 😊
I am merely seeking more perks for the $5.00 donation a month tier right now. But that may be a bit far-reaching at this point. Ah, well! Incentive challenges. The bane of my creative outlet.
Why am I even considering a Patreon account? Because, to be honest, hiring others to assist with the editing, formatting, and creating cover work for novels requires a lot of money. It's just the way it is, especially if you want a self-published novel to be as professional as possible.
Still, it's in a planning holding pattern right now. I may not even go with one at all. I'm throwing the thought out there to get ideas for Tier perks, so if you can think of anything you may want to receive for a 5.00 a month donation tier level, let me know. If I like the idea and I can swing it, I'll work something out. Right now the only thing I can offer that's pretty much cost-effective is video dramatic readings. Or... even videos of my journey as a script writer. Like a monthly reality-show installment. Still, I'd need to learn how to edit such videos and that's another reason I chose to retire early. I need to take time to learn that kind of technological advantage to doing my own videos. Being Tech-Challenged, I need all the time I can pull together to get THAT done. 😟
So there we are. One chapter ending... a new one beginning. The adventure starts here. I'd love it if you join me. 😁
